Grand opening

So here it is! I actually wrote it last Friday like I planned but then took a week to post it! Any way, I will start with the week after my dad left. First the father of one of the main teachers died and she had to go home, leaving a vacancy in one of the core classes (math). For the first few days whoever was available taught math, including me, but eventually two people were able to cover all the necessary class periods so I only had to teach math once (thankfully!). November 14 was a holiday so there was no school, thank GOD, because Monday was the grand opening of the Center and there was a lot to do before then. All day Thursday and Friday and Sunday we worked getting ready for the event. The center was repainted, the children's homework and other papers were sorted into portfolios and put in nice folders in their boxes, the center was scrubbed from top to bottom, video's and pictures were taken of the families, and many other things, including taking 16 (I think) kids with us to church for a children's program the Sabbath before the Opening.

Below are chronological pictures showing the events better than my writing skills can.
Three of my students in their home during one of our visits

In one of my earlier posts I talked about this little boy, who's name is "Peace", the boy on my right is his older brother and won the title of "Student of the month" for the month of November.

Going through all the homework and classwork to put them in the portfolios

Abdul Rahman, Abdul Hameed, and Adel caught me taking their picture :). This was at the children's program put on by the university church.

Us with our children (some of them at least :)) after the children's program

Starting to take shape!

Program started....all the guests seated

Our kids had never experienced anything like the opening...they especially enjoyed the food :)

The night ended with us being tiered, but happy!
